Getting a tattoo is a permanent decision, and you should know what you're getting into before you sit in the chair. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most often about custom tattoos, pricing, consultations, artists, hygiene, healing and the IRONBUZZ experience.
BOOKING & CONSULTATION
You can contact IRONBUZZ through WhatsApp, the website, email or Instagram and our team will guide you through the booking process. An advance is required to hold your appointment and is adjusted against the final tattoo price.
Not always. Smaller tattoos can often be discussed directly with our team, while larger or more involved tattoos usually benefit from a dedicated consultation with your artist. This gives you time to discuss the idea, placement, scale and design.
Yes. IRONBUZZ offers a free consultation where you can discuss your tattoo idea, placement, artist options and pricing before deciding to go ahead.
Yes. You can contact IRONBUZZ through WhatsApp and the team can guide you through the consultation and booking process.
Yes. IRONBUZZ accepts walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend contacting the studio before visiting so you can check availability and avoid disappointment.
It depends on the size and complexity of your tattoo and the artist you want to work with. Larger custom tattoos generally benefit from being planned in advance because the consultation, design and tattoo session need more preparation.
Yes. You can browse the IRONBUZZ artists and choose an artist whose style fits your idea. If you're unsure, our team can also help match your concept with an artist whose strengths suit it.
You discuss the story or idea behind the tattoo, references, style, placement and size with your artist. For larger pieces, the artist can also map the placement and take measurements needed to develop the design.
CUSTOM TATTOOS & DESIGN
Yes. IRONBUZZ is a custom tattoo studio. Instead of choosing from a catalogue of ready-made designs, your artist develops a personalised tattoo around your idea, personality, references, memories and body.
You begin with an idea, story or collection of references. Your artist then works with you to develop the concept, decide on placement and scale, and create a design specifically for your body.
Our custom tattoos are developed specifically for the person wearing them. References can help communicate what you like, but the goal is to create a personalised design rather than simply reproduce somebody else's tattoo.
Yes. Your chosen artist develops the tattoo design specifically for you, taking the idea, placement, scale and composition into consideration.
Absolutely. Reference images are useful because they help your artist understand the visual direction you're drawn to. You can bring saved or printed references to your consultation.
Yes. Multiple references can be used to communicate different elements, styles, compositions or moods. Your artist can then develop those ideas into a cohesive custom design.
That's completely fine. Start by explaining what the tattoo means to you, what you like visually and where you are thinking of placing it. Your artist can help turn that starting point into a workable concept.
Your design is developed collaboratively. The consultation is where you discuss the concept, placement and direction with your artist so the design can be refined before the tattoo session.

CHOOSING YOUR ARTIST
Start with the artist's portfolio and look for someone whose existing work is close to the style, subject and level of detail you want. If you're unsure, the IRONBUZZ team can help match your idea with an appropriate artist.
IRONBUZZ currently has six resident tattoo artists, each with their own strengths and visual language. You can explore their portfolios through the Artists section of the website.
The best artist depends on the tattoo you want rather than simply choosing the most senior artist. During consultation, we can look at your concept, style and references and recommend the artist whose portfolio is the strongest fit.
IRONBUZZ has artists working across different styles, including realism. Browse the individual artist portfolios or speak to the team so we can recommend the best fit for your particular realism tattoo.
IRONBUZZ works across multiple tattoo styles. The best way to choose an artist for fine-line work is to review the current artist portfolios and discuss your specific design with the team.
IRONBUZZ has artists with different specialisations and approaches to traditional tattooing. We recommend looking at the current artist portfolios or asking the team to match your concept with the right artist.
Yes. Tell us what you want to tattoo, the style you like and any references you have. We can recommend an artist whose experience and portfolio are appropriate for your idea.
HYGIENE & SAFETY
Tattoos are generally safe when performed by experienced professionals following appropriate hygiene and safety practices. At IRONBUZZ, tattoo needles are new, single-use, pre-packaged and sterile, and equipment that contacts the tattooed area is carefully wrapped to help prevent cross-contamination.
Hygiene is a core part of the IRONBUZZ tattoo process. New single-use sterile needles are used for each client, used needles are disposed of as medical waste, and surfaces and equipment that contact the tattoo area are protected to help prevent cross-contamination.
Yes. IRONBUZZ uses new, single-use, pre-packaged sterile needles for every client. After use, the needles are disposed of in medical waste bins.
Tattoo needles are single-use and sterile, while furniture and equipment that comes into contact with the tattooed area are carefully wrapped during the tattoo process. Used needles are disposed of in medical waste bins.
After being used on an individual client, IRONBUZZ disposes of needles in medical waste bins. The studio states that these bins are then handled by medical waste facilities.
YOUR FIRST TATTOO
Think carefully about the idea, placement and size rather than rushing into a design. A good consultation gives you the chance to discuss your references, expectations and concerns with an experienced artist before anything permanent goes on your skin.
Tattooing causes some discomfort, but the experience varies from person to person. Pain depends on factors including your individual pain tolerance, the location of the tattoo and the nature of the session.
Have a light meal before your appointment and stay hydrated. Coming to your session rested and fed can help you feel more comfortable and may reduce the chance of feeling faint.
Wear clean, comfortable clothing that gives your artist easy access to the area being tattooed. Loose-fitting clothing is usually a good choice. For placements where clothing may need to move, bring something appropriate that keeps you comfortable.
Bring your reference images if you have them, wear appropriate clothing for the placement, and arrive rested and hydrated. If you're coming for a consultation or booking, make sure any required advance has also been arranged.
HEALING & AFTERCARE
Tattoo healing typically takes around two to four weeks, although the exact experience varies depending on the tattoo, your skin and how well you follow your aftercare instructions.
Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your artist. Keep the tattoo clean, avoid unnecessary irritation and follow the recommended care routine while your skin heals. IRONBUZZ also provides aftercare guidance as part of the tattoo experience.
Follow the specific aftercare instructions given to you by your artist. Normal hygiene is important while your tattoo heals, but avoid unnecessary soaking or prolonged exposure to water during the healing period.
Ask your artist about the appropriate timing for your particular tattoo. During healing, avoid activities that cause excessive friction, sweat or irritation around the tattooed area.
It is best to avoid swimming and soaking a fresh tattoo while it is healing. Follow your artist's aftercare instructions and wait until the skin has properly healed before returning to swimming.
Use the aftercare product recommended by your artist and follow the instructions they give you. IRONBUZZ also provides an aftercare walkthrough to help you understand how to care for your tattoo while it heals.
If your tattoo looks or feels unusual and you're unsure whether it is healing normally, contact IRONBUZZ rather than guessing. Our team can assess what is happening and direct you on the appropriate next step.
